Building America’s Next-Gen Textile Workforce

Through a National Science Foundation–funded initiative, Transcend Learning Consultants partnered with the Textile Innovation Engine of North Carolina to design a statewide apparel and textile curriculum for high schools. We collaborated with national and international partners—including Delivery Associates, Global Sustainable Network, teachers, and the NC Department of Public Instruction—to align the program to DPI standards and industry workforce needs. The curriculum emphasizes circularity, community, and Appalachian regional revitalization. Already adopted by 84 of 96 eligible teachers, the program is projected to engage 30,000 students over the next decade—strengthening a critical manufacturing sector and unlocking new career pathways across North Carolina.
