When Wheelhouse Health Navigation joined the New England Medical Innovation Center Accelerator, they faced a critical challenge shared by many digital health leaders: how to ensure innovation actually reaches the communities it’s meant to serve.
To support Haitian Creole refugees in navigating the LifeSpan health portal—where patients schedule appointments and access electronic health records—Wheelhouse partnered with Transcend Learning Consultants to rethink the onboarding experience from the ground up. Together, they designed a culturally responsive, guided eLearning demo that translated not just language, but intent—helping patients confidently register, explore, and use the portal.
